The University offers a service for students (living both on and off campus at any of our campuses) to voluntarily register your car registration details in order to help the University contact you quickly regarding any issues that may arise with your car.
Amongst other benefits for students, the information you submit will be used by security staff to let you know:
- if you have left your headlights on
- if your car has been left unsecured/windows open
- if your car has been bumped in the car park or side streets near the campus
- if your car is causing an obstruction (and thus helping to avoid you being issued with a parking fine/release fees issued by the Police).
The information may also be shared with local Police forces for similar reasons to those listed above, thus helping reduce car crime and potentially saving you money by helping you to avoid hefty parking fines and release fees.
All personal details provided will be held and processed by the University in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
